Inspired by Frédéric Back’s Academy Award–winning animated film (1987, Radio-Canada) and Jean Giono’s celebrated 1953 text, The Man Who Planted Trees: An Immersive Narrative invites visitors of all ages into the poetic world of trees. Through the quiet journey of a solitary shepherd whose patience and determination transform a barren valley into a thriving forest, the experience unfolds as a powerful reflection on resilience, stewardship, and the regenerative force of nature.

Developed with the Canadian Museum of Nature and conceived by Supply + Demand, this fully Canadian-produced immersive exhibition blends interactive environments, evocative scenography inspired by Canadian forests, and accessible scientific content. As visitors move through the space, they take part in the landscape’s transformation, witnessing the forest gradually come to life through a collective, participatory experience.
Created in partnership by Supply + Demand and the Canadian Museum of Nature
Based on the Academy Award–winning film The Man Who Planted Trees, produced by Radio-Canada.
