Sara Hougan
Sara Hougan is an accomplished experience designer with a track record of developing successful exhibitions for international audiences.
Most recently, she served as the creative director for The Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, collaborating closely with Microsoft and Mojang to craft its storyline and leading the team at Supply + Demand to bring it to life. Villager Rescue debuted in Dallas in 2024, opened in London in early 2025, and is actively booking additional cities worldwide.
As an independent consultant for over a decade, Sara has developed traveling exhibitions for MuseumsPartners and The Museum Practice. She curated Nelson Mandela: The Official Exhibition, which premiered in London in 2019 and continues to tour the U.S., serving as a platform for discussions on racial justice. For this project, she worked directly with the Mandela family, South African museums, and key historical and cultural organizations.
Beyond museums, Sara has created immersive, location-based entertainment experiences for companies such as Ripley’s Entertainment, Saban Experiences, and WOW Explorations. Earlier in her career, she played a key role in content development at West Office Exhibition Design, leading a 42,000 sq. ft. science exhibition in Liaoning, China. She also held curatorial and education leadership roles at the Great Harbor Maritime Museum and the Boston Children's Museum, where she developed interactive programming and major cultural events.
